So Who is Yuri anyway?
Yuri the Awakening is a comic book produced by Doug Hufford and Todd Beistel. It is published through Packrat Comics. We are currently working on our 3rd issue. The Prologue and 1st two issues are available at local Columbus, OH comic stores such as Packrat Comics, Laughing Ogre, and ComicTown. It is also available at all of our live appearances. It is also available to ship directly to your door.
The story of Yuri Stormovik has been likened to a cross between Fight Club, Quantum Leap, and The Gilmore Girls. Yuri the Awakening is a story about an orphan who discovers he has a unique ability. He has the ability to blend into any situation. He does not physically change mind you; he just alters the perception of those around him. Only unlike most comic characters of the past, he doesn’t want to become a superhero or save the world. He doesn’t have any interest in helping people. He is a high school teenager, and only wants to use it for his own purposes.
Yuri is lonely, and has no family to speak of. All he knows of his parents were that they were killed days after his birth. The only memory he has of them is a 68’ Stratocaster his father left. He put the guitar to good use in the local rock band Rayner, and they have come to serve as his surrogate family. Unfortunately certain third parties have taken an interest in Yuri, with less than altruistic motives. Come join us on this grand adventure spanning 25 years, as we watch Yuri develop from an attitude ridden teenager to the adult badass he is to become.
